About Me

As much as I know there are rich and wonderful experiences ahead...
I do a lot of looking back.

It seems a shame to let the past just slip away...
we are all works in progress...shaped by every moment that has gone before.

I spend a lot of time entertaining myself with the memories that lie in the folds of my grey matter, waiting to be shaken out. I can't leave them alone. They are the fabric of my stories and everyone knows, I LOVE to tell stories. I also love food. It gives me great joy to feed someone well. To offer the most basic of gifts.

Food and stories belong together. All generations and cultures from the dawn of time have come together to eat, celebrate and share tales of the hunt.We gather around the fire to share...sustenance, warmth, protection and...lore. I especially like the lore.

This blog began with a desire to share the food and stories of my past with my most treasured daughters, Cara and Erin.

I was a busy mom. Sometimes I was a student, sometimes I was single and always, I worked. I didn't have the time to share life-lessons with my girls through the stories and recipes of those in my family who had gone before. I barely had time to cook. More often than not, the Hamburger Helper hit the table with a handful of pre-packaged salad and a glass of milk. I have few regrets in life, but this is one of them.  My mother had the same regret...she too, was a single mother and had little time to share life lessons through the preparation of food...so she left me a wonderful gift... her recipe box.

And the reason for it all...
